Under 16 and bursting with ideas? Love playing board games? You could be just who we're looking for!

The Young Games Inventor of the Year is a nationwide competition to find the best new game idea invented by a school-aged child. If your child has a game idea, no matter how simple or clever, we want to hear about it!

What will the winner get?

As well as winning their height in BrainBox games (that's a lot of games, by the way), we will even bring the winning game idea to life and present the winner with a mocked-up copy of their game at the annual Toy Fair in London!

How can my child enter?

It couldn't be simpler. You can either:

1) Enter your child's idea using our online application form here; or
2) Download our paper application form here, get your child to complete it, and then send it back to us by the deadline

How is the winner chosen?

We will draw up a shortlist of eligible entries and then, a bit like Strictly Come Dancing, the final winner is chosen from a combination of judges' vote and the public vote (your friends and family can really help with the public vote!).

What is the deadline?

All entries must be submitted by midnight on November 5th 2019. But don't leave it too late to get inventing - the best game ideas take a bit of time you know...

Did you know..

This successfully growing annual competition is now open and we are inviting British youngsters, to put their creativity and ingenuity to the test. The winner will be announced in December following a rigorous on-line voting process and a Judges' final call (50% public vote – 50% judges' vote).

2017’s bright young mind was Hannah Padbury from Brentford, West London!  From the hundreds of public votes received each year, the judges' job doesn’t get any easier …

Gary Wyatt, Founder of The Green Board Game Co said,

"The judges were delighted with the range of entries and rated Hannah’s game Alpha Chase highest. The game had our core values of being fun and educational and is easy to understand, showing that simple ideas are often the best!”

We look forward to receiving your YGI application. Good luck!
